P.S. Turkey and Germany will be playing each other in the world cup this week. I am honestly terrified to think about what this could mean in terms of judo-street fighting, schwarma flinging and fireworks. Honestly though, based on the citywide response when Germany and Turkey are playing separately, I can't imagine the kind of chaos that will become Berlin on Mon.

why is it that the germans and the turks hate each other. well maybe hate is strong, but i remember reading a minidiologie in mein Deutsch Buch about this truck driver who was a turk and missed home and was tired of being harrased by the germans.i think i spelled harrass wrong.

I don't know, I think there's a lot more racism in smaller German cities (not Berlin) against the Turks. I think Germany just has a history of preferring white meat.
But then, some Turkish guy told me that Germans think the Turks are just "too loud." There's also the whole immigration thing, tons of Turkish people coming in, stealing jobs, typical nationalist stuff.

I'm sorry, perhaps calling them "the Turks" is offensive, many of them are actually second or third generation Germans. So Turkish Germans.
